Panic – Grace Pending

Perched on a foundation both exquisite and terrifying, we don’t always get the balance right.

Panic often requires a period of brain-numbed complacency where boredom satiates like some pill popping addict’s latest hit.

But then it all falls apart. Suddenly every fear seems justified, every failure predetermined.

In those moments of deep distress – when fear, depression, and anxiety substitute all too easily for rational thought – panic feels almost soothing.

But panic also clarifies.

Because we can better understand what genuine powerlessness feels like in the face of all things both awesome and awful.

It’s only then when we may finally discover that true rest and reassurance are as much eternal as internal.
