On The Twilight Just Ahead


Twilight just ahead.
It appeared, as if from nowhere,
More rapidly than I ever noticed,
More devastatingly than I ever surmised,
More alluringly than I ever dared hope.
The path now compresses,
As the breath next collapses,
And the heart, at last, caves in.
You reach back for my hand,
As I reach ahead for His.
Flesh and mind, and
Body and soul
