The Brexit Explained


**My friend, Eamonn, explains what the Brexit is and why he’s in favor of it. If you are interested in writing the opposing viewpoint, I’d be happy to share it.

Brexit is short for a British Exit from the European Union. The EU was started back in the late 1950s to create a common trading area in central Europe which would hopefully prevent another war breaking out. Originally France and Germany were the heavyweights but it expanded to take in the UK and Ireland in 1973, Spain, Portugal and Greece in the 1980s (once they had offloaded their dictatorships) and most of Eastern Europe after the fall of communism
