He cried out in the middle of the night to no one in particular.
He never quite understood what brought him to this moment of decision. But he knew that there were no more choices to be made, there were no more options left to weigh.
He wondered – but only for a moment – whether he could go through with it, knowing that everything was about to change; knowing that it would permanently affect everyone that he ever loved.
But he was at peace and he knew that there was no turning back, that nothing less would suffice.
As soon as he was sure that no one was watching, he fell to the ground.
And he began to pray . . .
