The Silence Now Awakens Me

Too long have I departed.

I can’t recall the last comfort

I took in your presence.

Was there comfort

Even then?

So many moments spent

Frantically plugging the leaks,

So many days forever lost

Ruthlessly dulling the pain.

Even your stillness

All but consumed me.

Then wholly, abruptly

My desperation was

Pulverized by your peace,

My fears

Smashed to dust by your love.

The silence now awakens me.

The truth is, yes,

My faith may yet stand

Amid immutable doubt.

But your grace now assuages

My rendered and willing heart.

I am, at last, home.

And it is there, only,

That I can find rest again,

Once more.
