St. Mary Magdalene, Tuesday’s Prayer for Sisters and Nuns

Painting by Richard Stodart

In anticipation of her feast day, July 22, let us pray:

St. Mary Magdalene,

Hear our prayers and carry them to our beloved Lord. We pray for our Sisters and Nuns who seek Jesus as you had sought him, in a world determined to destroy the Christ.

Guide them as a community of women to follow in your steps, and share the Good News with the ignorant and those mired and lost in sin. Strengthen them in prayer, console them in struggle, bring them peace in their final hour.

We ask all this of you in Jesus name. Amen

Hindered in Prayer, Tuesday’s Prayer for Sisters and Nuns

.

Holy and Beloved Father whose love is without limit and whose gifts are given with full compassion hear our prayers for Sisters and Nuns.

Look upon them with mercy when their prayers are hindered by a false sense of unworthiness.

Inspire all Sisters and Nuns who are creative artists whose gifts are to reveal your beauty in our world.

Help them to continuously embrace your goodness and lead them to seek goodness rather than faults in their communities, in those they care for, and in all of us that they encounter.

We ask this all with confidence in the name of Jesus.

Amen

Holy Within, Tuesday’s Prayer for Sisters and Nuns

.

A challenge in our lives as Catholics is to recognize the person of the Holy Spirit within us and discern its guidance. To think that our bodies are its vessel, to truly know this is, well, rather disconcerting at times. Our Sisters and Nuns have come to realize clearly that their lives, their bodies, are not their own on a level we the laity struggle to understand. Let us pray for these holy women persevering in a world contrary to the call of Christianity, that they may always find from within themselves, that centering peace and guidance that is the person of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

They are Seed, Tuesday’s Prayer for Sisters and Nuns

.

Eucharistic Jesus,

We do not know, as the seed, what will be made of us.

Help our Sisters and Nuns to accept this unknowing as a blessing to trust in Divine Will. Guide them through their growing, their journey to be fruit, harvested and consumed for the purpose of bringing souls to you.

Give them strength to stand at Paradise’s gate, and ease their dying in tension for your Light.

We are nourished by their offering of selfless love, rooted in your sacrifice to be our Bread. We ask you to continue to bless our Sisters and Nuns whose lives are professed to you for our sake.

Amen.

Bearing Hope in a Suffering World, Tuesday’s Prayer for Sisters and Nuns

.

Lord Jesus we pray that you strengthen our Sisters and Nuns to bring forth your hope and love in a suffering world. Where war has inflicted death, let our Sisters and Nuns work and pray for peace. Where famine has brought suffering, let our holy women feed the poor. Where earthquakes and floods have caused hopelessness, let our consecrated women provide relief. Where epidemic has spread, let our Sisters and Nuns care for life. We ask in Jesus’ name that God guard them from all evil. Amen.
