Peter and Paul

Peter and Paul

The unstoppable force
moves as a gale wind–
a spirit sent to move a world.

The immovable object
stands as a fortress–
unmoved by the currents
or quakes of the world
fluxing through time.

The wind defers as it moves,
breaking upon the rock
as it turns vortices about
to continue on its path.

At length, the current
says what it ought,
at length, the rock
is smoothed and polished
as a dome rising on a hill.

The wind, saying what it ought,
has never moved the rock
from that stone
against which
it has its corner…

nor is that its course

… only the tempest
of a rebellious hail
would dare
such a brazen
and futile posturing.
