Suscipe

Suscipe
You want his will to be what you want.
So let go of desire, he is not to be made
In your image, but you in his.

And it gets more intricate,
Because you know where he is leading you,
He has already shown you the objective of his call.

But oh how impatient you are,
There is always more time to wait.
And he tells you to wait.

You may know where it is
You are following him to
But you only get to see

The way on which he is leading you there
As you arrive at each step.
You cannot get there by charting your own course.

You have seen the end, for he has
Removed his veil and yours before,
But the journey–what lies ahead

Until he brings you to who is ahead? What need have you to beg him
To take what he already holds, and so dearly?

You must abandon desire, all desire.
You must abandon you, all your will.
Your will, desire, you:

these must be His,
for while they are already His,
they may no longer be yours:

listen and follow–
let go and see–
how He calls is whom

He calls by name.
