All Good Things… | A Catholic Misfit

…mustn’t necessarily come to an end. Sometimes the good things change.

It’s been way too long since my last post. A lot has happened on the Island of Misfit Catholics, and you deserve an update on some of it.

First of all, as of April 1st, The Catholic Conspiracy site will be shutting down. That could be counted as an end, but perhaps it’s more of a transition. After five years of hosting amazing writers and providing excellent Catholic content, TCC is riding off into the sunset. We wish it didn’t have to be this way, but changing on-line demographics and real-life circumstances have forced this decision. That doesn’t mean A Catholic Misfit is going away, or any of the other writers. The main site is going away, not the individuals.

Here’s the link to the new site: A Catholic Misfit. Same name, new url. I intend to keep writing as long as there is something to write about.

And secondly, I have exciting news! My first novel will be coming out shortly after Easter! I’m self-publishing it on Kindle Direct Printing, in dead tree and e-book formats. It’s called “Songs for Clara”, and here’s the blurb:

Rochester, New York – summer of 1986. While clearing out the attic of his childhood home, Frank Stephens discovers a hidden collection of songs, composed by his father, marked “For Clara”.

His mother’s name, though, was Louise, and she died of cancer eight years ago. His father, a former music professor and composer, suffers from Alzheimer’s, and is unlikely able to give an explanation. Even if he could, would he? Their relationship bears scars of lifelong unresolved arguments and grudges. Despite these obstacles, and his sister’s objections, Frank is determined to discover Clara’s identity.

Frank believes his father had been unfaithful. His search uncovers secrets and promises, forcing him to reconsider everything he once believed to be true – about his parents, himself, and his future.

The book’s not explicitly Catholic – it’s not a sermon in the form of a novel at any rate – but it has Catholic flavoring. “Catholic bouillon”, a friend of mine described it. I’ll announce when it’s released and provide all the necessary links, so keep watch!

For those who have remained all this time – I thank you, and admire your loyalty. I hope you continue to read me – after all, us Misfits need to stick together!
