There in the distance
I heard them again
bells
metal gently striking metal
bronze releasing buried sounds
solitary, coordinated, without agenda
except to remind us to focus on that space
in between, a momentary silence separating this
from that, then from now, and what has been from
what is soon to be, yet meeting us exactly where we are
