I’m not yet confident that I’ve gathered all of the facts.
But when I do, there’ll be an accounting, a reconciliation. One that praises today’s truths instead of yesterday’s discarded trash. Built upon lies and defended by its conquering heroes, the past remains little more than some adulterated, collective memory anyway.
And a reckless one at that.
Tomorrow promises to be greater than today. Objectivity, certainty, and conviction were humanity’s burdens no longer relevant, no longer willingly borne. We are now untethered in a world that was as much obsessed with slavery as it was with its own salvation.
We are free to live and freer still to die.
And I am adrift.
