The still unfolding Harvey Weinstein story – horrible yet far from shocking given the frequent allegations earlier raised against him and several other major Hollywood, political, and journalistic players of late – tells us that little has actually changed in the workplace. And this is so even after so many years of what some might label an intensive run at political enlightenment.
While that, in and of itself, may not be altogether surprising, what is surprising, and, really, disappointing for me as the father of two grown women now successfully making their way in the world, is the forced silence that accompanied so many of these accusations for far too long.
They were, in many cases, an open secret.
But apparently, the powers in place kept turning a blind eye towards this massively unacceptable, likely illegal, and certainly despicable behavior
