As we, as a nation, become more and more enmeshed in all that now gathers around us, as we tilt our heads upwards and ask: Where Are You?, perhaps we shouldn’t be all that surprised to find that same question turned back towards us: Where Have You Been?
Words of peace have escaped my lips,
Even as my fingers have wept with blood.
My eyes turned away, then inward,
All the better to deny the other.
But the darkness reflected back reminded me
That no two truly diverge,
