Of Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Thomas Merton, And The Dying Art Of Persuasion In Our Closed-Minded Culture


We’ve stopped talking to each other.
Now, it seems, we spend all day on social media just yelling at each other – with closed ears, closed hearts, and closed minds.
So convinced are we in our own – especially political – positions, so set in concrete are our beliefs, that we have forgotten how to persuade, or why logic is essential to developing a solid, persuasive argument, and, most especially, how empathy and reason can, together, work to move us towards common ground.
No one hears us anymore.
So maybe, then, we need to be the one who goes first
