It’s Probably Good I’m Not a Deacon…

…cos I probably would’ve preached on Nehemiah.

I saw that meme on Facebook and laughed. Because it’s funny. It also made me double-check the Old Testament, and yup, there in Nehemiah 6:15-16, it reads: “So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days. And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations round about us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem; for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.”

So the Israelites built a wall, and then in Chapter 8, in the presence of all the people, Ezra read the Scriptures, after which the assembly was instructed to party.

The more you know.

[I don’t care where you sit on The Wall issue. The meme’s still funny.]

About Larry Denninger

After writing at "Acts of the Apostasy" for more than 10 years under a pseudonym, Larry decided it was time to go public, and launch a brand new blog. It will probably backfire horribly. Which means you will want to follow and witness the impending trainwreck. He resides in Michigan.
