Independence Day 2018

In celebration of our nation’s liberty, it seemed fitting to display a quote from the only Catholic signatory of the Declaration of Independence, Charles Carroll of Carrollton. This is a Catholic blog, after all.

As a culture’s morality goes – and as Christianity gets pushed, kicked, and shoved further from the center of public life – so goes the nation. How many more years our great Republic thrives depends on the courage, steadfastness, faithfulness, and righteousness of principled men and women, protected and directed by the grace of God.

As John Adams said: “Avarice, ambition, revenge and licentiousness would break the strongest cords of our Constitution, as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Happy Independence Day from A Catholic Misfit! Don’t sit on any fireworks!

About Larry Denninger

After writing at "Acts of the Apostasy" for more than 10 years under a pseudonym, Larry decided it was time to go public, and launch a brand new blog. It will probably backfire horribly. Which means you will want to follow and witness the impending trainwreck. He resides in Michigan.
